Thank you for your interest in volunteering at TCAF! Every year we need about 250 people that are willing to set aside the weekend and devote themselves to (among other things) greeting visitors, moving things about town, setting up tech equipment, helping orient visitors, managing the flow of people in the library, and distributing festival guides. In addition to tasks around the days of the festival proper, volunteers also help us with parts of the festival that take place in the days before to the main event; from setting up tables to helping at lead-up events, these volunteers are essential to the festival’s success. We’re incredibly grateful to all of these people, and we’d love for you to be one of them.
TCAF volunteers work in small teams of between five and twelve people. These teams are each responsible for running a particular space or process essential to the Festival. Each team has a team leader, who is usually a veteran TCAF volunteer who knows the lay of the land. The sign-up form allows return TCAF volunteers the opportunity to apply for one of these lead positions.
Volunteering at TCAF can be a lot of fun, and is a great way to meet people who are interested in comics! TCAF volunteering looks great on your résumé, and can count towards your required high school volunteer hours. Plus, TCAF volunteers each get a swank TCAF t-shirt, a TCAF poster, and probably a cup of coffee or two, as well as the admiration and appreciation of all 26,000 people who attend the Festival!
