Andrea Shockling is a cartoonist and illustrator based in Pittsburgh and Queens. She’s worked on Broadway and in regional theatres and universities across the US as a painter, scenic designer, and educator. She is primarily known for her ongoing comic series SUBJECTIVE LINE WEIGHT, featuring women sharing the stories about our bodies we’re not supposed to tell. Much of her autobio and nonfiction work in comics examines the intersections of body image – and body shame – with mental illness, grief, and parenthood. She is currently at work on a graphic memoir entitled A DANGLING CONVERSATION that follows her discovery of and investigation into her late mother’s secret first marriage.
