This year TCAF returns to the beautiful Masonic Temple Concert Hall for two full days (and one great night) of Featured programming events!
At the request of our venue, publishing partners, and staff, all events at The Masonic Temple will be ticketed this year. Tickets are free for daytime events on Saturday and Sunday, and will be available on the Eventbrite page on Tuesday, April 30, at 11am EST.
Another exciting piece is that this year we’re able to provide ASL interpretation for all main stage programming at the Masonic Temple! Tell your friends!

Saturday May 11th
10:00-11:30 Sharing Your Smile: Spotlight Raina Telgemeier
Raina Telgemeier is back with Share Your Smile, a creative How-To for kids and creators of all ages. Join Raina in conversation with Jann Jones (Legendary Entertainment), as they talk about the brave and bold ways people can grow their imaginations!
12:00-1:30 Page to Screen/Screen to Page
Comics is the perfect medium, sure, but there’s definitely a thrill in seeing how our favourite stories move across formats. Between movies, television, poetry, and prose, these creators all have oodles of experience in the interplay between the original and the adaptation. Featuring Brian Selznick (Hugo), Gabriel Bá (Umbrella Academy), Renee Nault (Handmaid’s Tale), and Jeff Lemire (Secret Path). Moderated by Dylan Magwood.
2:00-3:30 Junji Ito Live Draw
Join horror manga artist Junji Ito in a special live-drawing presentation at TCAF’s Featured presentation space, The Masonic Temple Concert Hall. Ito-sensei will create original illustrations before your eyes, while TCAF Artistic Director Christopher Butcher interviews him about his work!
4:00-5:30 Hitting the Right Note
Music and comics go like peanut butter and jelly, even if comics typically do not make a sound. Come join Kid Koala, JonJon, Kieron Gillen, and Jamie McKelvie as they talk about books that are easy on the eyes and ears!
Saturday Evening, May 11th
TCAF SATURDAY NIGHT PARTY! 8:00PM-1:00PM
After a long day of taking in all that TCAF has to offer, come let your hair down in this special Saturday night party with the creators at the Festival! This event is free to attend for TCAF exhibitors and volunteers (just show up at the door with your badge), or $10 for members of the public (tickets below).
The evening will featuring a live performance by Kid Koala from 9pm-10pm, and then a special dance party hosted by Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie of The Wicked + The Divine in the main space follows!
SUNDAY May 12th
10:30-12:00 Bolt City Supernovas: Spotlight on AMULET’S Kazu Kibuishi & Jason Caffoe
Kazu Kibuishi and Jason Caffoe talk about their mega-popular Amulet series, and what’s in store as they prepare for the final volume. Moderated by Mark Askwith.
12:30-2:00: Queer Young Adult Comics Spectacular, with First Second Books!
First Second have made a move this year, boasting four big books that centre young people exploring gender and sexuality for YA audiences. Featuring the creators behind Bloom (Kevin Panetta & Savanna Ganuchaeu), The Breakaways (Cathy G Johnson), Kiss Number 8 (Ellen T Crenshaw & Colleen AF Venable), and Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up with Me (Mariko Tamaki & Rosemary Valero-O’Connell), and moderated by Ardo Omer.
2:30-4:00 Mystery Panel! TBA! SOON!
- All events will feature on stage ASL interpretation.
- All events require tickets for guaranteed admission.
- Admission is only guaranteed until 5 minutes before the scheduled start time.
- All programs will have “rush lines” on site, where those without tickets can line up, and be admitted if there is space.
- The maximum capacity of this space is 700 persons.
